MarXcellence: Inter-University Digital Marketing Competition
MarXcellence is a 44-day digital marketing competition designed to provide undergraduates with hands-on experience in the marketing sector. Participants, in teams of 3-4, will compete through three progressive rounds, tackling tasks related to promotion, sales, branding, startup ideas, market research, ad-making, and marketing tools.
The event includes two workshops led by industry experts to enhance participants’ skills and prepare them for real-world challenges. Finalist teams will be mentored by professionals to guide them through the final round.
This competition offers students from North South University and beyond the chance to connect with industry icons, gain practical marketing knowledge, and prepare for corporate life.

Event Overview
Workshop 1: Key Details
Format: Hybrid
- Local participants: In-person attendance.
- International participants: Online via Zoom or Google Meet.
Attendance Requirement: Mandatory for at least two members from each team.
Conducted By: Acclaimed Content Specialists from Bangladesh.
Focus Areas:
- Solving real-life marketing cases (relevant for the first round).
- Proper implementation of marketing tools.
- Simple methods for information collection and analysis using marketing analytics.
Round 1 Overview:
- Task: Solve a real-life marketing case provided by the sponsors.
- Focus: Utilize digital marketing tools to address the problem effectively.
- Duration: 5 days to analyze and submit the solution via email.
- Judging Criteria:
- Understanding of digital marketing.
- Effectiveness of the proposed solutions.
- Participation:
- Anticipated participants: 750+ teams.
- Advancement: Only 30-50 teams will move to the next round.
Workshop 2:
Workshop 2 will be held after round 2 results are announced, with industry pioneers focusing on Marketing Promotions and Branding. The experts will educate teams on the specifics of marketing promotions, research, and branding methods. Corporate leaders will mentor each team to bring their planning to life.
Semi Final
From the 750+ teams, around 30-50 teams will qualify for the second round. This is an Innovation round. In this round, the teams will be given with tasks where they will have to come up with an innovative Online Video Commercial (OVC) and develop a marketing plan for it. The participants will get a full 5 days for this round, within which they have to create proper content and slides to present in front of the judges.
Final
Final Round: The top 6 teams will participate in the final round. For this round, the teams will be asked to come up with disruptive marketing tools for new branding and promotional techniques. They will be assessed based on the effectiveness of the ideas and new tools they came up with and how they disrupt the industry. Participants will have to come up with a detailed solution to the problem, plan a comprehensive process, and present their solutions to a panel of eminent judges. After the case is posted, the participants will get 6 days to build their plans and strategies. Afterward, there will be a presentation round for the teams where the finalists will present their plans to our esteemed judges. We will conduct the final round in a 5-star hotel.
